Author Tyler R. Lee draws inspiration from stories across all mediums, be it novels, comics, video games, or both the big and small screen. Much of this inspiration can be found in his novel, Load Custom Character, a story about a teenage boy named Peter who becomes trapped in an immersive virtual reality game that kills anyone who tries to escape, and now he must find a way out with his new companions. For this project, the goal was to convey the sense of action, danger, and consequence, all through fantastical and colorful design elements and illustrations.
